Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Bima Shakti Yojana in Haryana state on 9 December. PM addressed to the nation at Panipat on 9 December to launch the program. The program is especially designed for women living in rural areas in India. Total 85000 female beneficiaries will become the LIC agent in this program where 35000 beneficiaries will be enrolled in the first installment. The government will allow female to participate in the program and become a policy agent of LIC to promote insurance programs at village level in their locality. Apart from the monthly salary, females will also get incentive according to their work.
What is Bima Sakhi Yojana?
Bima Sakhi is a program where female will be called as Bhima Sakhi ( insurance partner) for different insurance programs of LIC. The Bima Sakhi will responsible to promote insurance programs at village level in their locality. The government will provide them monthly salary to promote and help in insurance programs for all the villagers. Apart from this, if the insurance partner complete data and do the extra services then they will also get incentive according to their potential.
Apart from promoting insurance programs, Bima Saki is also be responsible to help in application procedure including submit the application form of the villager, complete their KYC using biometric device, updating data of the policy holder in the mobile application etc.

Women will get Monthly salary plus incentive
The program will enroll females for maximum 3 years at the initial stage where government will provide 7000 per month to the registered Bima Sakhi partners. After completing the one year in the job, Bhima Sakhi will get 6000 rupees per month for the second year and 5000 rupees per month will be provided in the last third year. Apart from this individuals will also get 2100 financial assistance from the government in this program to become financially stable.
How about the government will reduce 1000 rupees annually instead of any increment, but females will able to earn as much their potential through incentives. It’s mean if a female complete the monthly or the weekly task or target of insurance then bank will provide them Commission for each new customer according to the value of the policy. Currently policy agents are running 50000 to 80000 rupees per month as incentive according to their potential in the bank.
Approximately 85000 females will get employment
The government is going to include approximately 85000 females in this program country wide. However at the initial stage, 35000 females will be registered for Bhima Sakhi Yojana after the announcement on 9 December. After implementing the second phase of the program, rest of 50000 females will be registered on the Bhima Sakhi Yojana website accordingly. It is expected from the government to firstly start this initiative in Haryana state and their near by States and after that will implement the program in all the villages of the country.
Who can apply in Bima Sakhi Yojana?
