State departments of the health and other stakeholders have started to respond on the queries of the people on HMPV virus. According to the IMA Kochi is for person: There is a lot of public anxiety about the HMPV. It is a common respiratory virus which most children get by the age of 3 or 4. It’s very rare to have a serious problem with this. Most children would have had at least one bout of this infection in their childhood, including all of us…This is not COVID. Himachal Pradesh health minister has told that The virus is common in India and it was firstly registered in 2001 in India so there is no need to be panic of this virus.
Most all the states have responded to the virus and urged the people to not spread fake news and rumour about the dangerousness of the virus.
Indian Medical Association Kochi have told that the virus is not similar as the COVID and Affecting only asthma and respiratory conditions. There is no need to take any Vaccine of the HMPV virus and individuals can prevent them and their children by following precautions suggested by doctors.
Departments have started to monitor the condition
The health minister of the Mizoram Lalrinpuii formed a committee to monitor cases and condition of the HMPV Virus cases in the state. The committee was formed after the instant meeting by the minister on Monday 6 January 2025.
Other states including Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Gujarat etc are also monitoring the situation accordingly. Recently, the department of health in Uttar Pradesh has also told that they are specially observing devotees in MahaKumbh and monitoring the situation.

According to the official statement by the Indian Medical Association, the virus is specially attacking the children and it is very common in children to have symptoms of HMPV virus. They told that children between the age group of 3 to 4 years are required to follow more precautions as this age group is highly affected from this virus.
In the statement of IMA spokesperson, they have also told that every child had faced the symptoms of HMPV in their childhood at least once. so it is a very common virus which do not require a special vaccine and is cured by precautions and medicines.
Although authorities are advising people to not be afraid of this virus, there are still some symptoms that indicate that a person may be infected with this virus such as cough, fever, difficulty in breathing, cold etc.
