Why the project is Important?

Currently immigrants have to visit their native country to renew their visa. For example if a H-1B worker have completed 3 years in USA then it is required to him to go to the native country and apply for renewal of visa in USA embassy. This process is time consuming and too much costly as workers have to purchase the Air ticket of 1.2 lakh to 1.5 lakh to come to the country and after that have to pay the H1B Renewal fees accordingly.

After that they need to again purchase the visa to go to USA. So workers are facing very difficulty in visa renewal process which may take 2 months to 3 months. So after implementing the Pilot project to renew the visa without leaving the country, it will help workers to save their money and time as well.

Indian Workers in USA

As of 2018, approximately 2.7 million Indian immigrants resided in the United States, with this number remaining stable through 2019. By 2021, the Indian immigrant population continued to hold steady at around 2.7 million, representing about 6% of the total U.S. immigrant population. In 2022, this figure increased to approximately 4.2 million Indian Americans, with about 66% being immigrants. The trend continued into 2023, where the number of Indian workers in the U.S. was estimated to be around 4.8 million, reflecting a significant growth in the Indian American community.

This growth can be attributed to various factors, including the increasing demand for skilled labor in sectors such as technology, healthcare, and engineering, where many Indian professionals are employed. The data indicates that Indian Americans not only contribute significantly to the workforce but also have a higher median income compared to other immigrant groups, showcasing their economic impact in the U.S.

Why H-1B visa in discussion?

There are many types of work visas in USA but currently the H-1B visa is trending in news and social media as it has become a target of MAGA activists who wish to close the door to overseas workers in USA and stating that it is making barriers for American youths to get a good job.

The matter has been discussed by Elon Musk too but US authorities are aware of the potential of overseas talent which is a part of economic growth of the country so Trump and other political leaders have confirmed that they need more talented workers and will not close H-1B visas.
