Trudeau Announced to resign the PM post
Justin Trudeau is the 23rd PM of Canada who is one of the longest serving PM of country. The PM conducted as press conference on monday 6 january 2025 and expresses his will to resign the PM post. He said: I intend to resign as party leader as prime minister, after the party selects its next leader through a robust, nationwide competitive process. This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it has become clear to me that if I’m having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election.
Trudeau was a public supported PM and very famous, but there are many survey which intended the results of the next PM election in country and showed that trudeau is not much popular now. He also acknowledged it and said: I can not be the best option in that election.
Officially end the PM service
However trudeau has officially announced his resignation from the PM post, but he has not ended his charges officially. The Liberal Party and conservative party which are combinedly running the government in the canada through majority, have to elect a new person for the post of PM until a new election is conducted. As new eclection are expected to conduct in October 2025, So now the party is required to make new PM. However the parliamentary session will start from 27 January 2025, but the authority have to make decision on it soon otherwise government need to conduct new elections earlier. So once the desired and official new PM is elected, trudeau will continue to work as a PM of country.
2 Resigns in a Month
Earlier, Chrystia Freeland, the minister of finance and deputy prime minister of Canada reigned from the post on 16 December 2024. It was a big step down of the Liberal party of the Canada as she is one of the top leader of the party and considered as a good friend of Trudeau. She was not agreed with the Trudeau’s economic policy of providing extra financial rebate to the Canadians under the situation where the US is threatening a 25% tariff on Canadian goods. However after the resignation of the deputy pm, now the PM of the country has also announced to resign from the PM post on 6 January 2025.

The resignation comes at a time when Canada is dealing with tensions with the United States. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose heavy tariffs (25%) on Canadian goods, raising concerns about trade and migration, adding to Canada’s economic challenges.
Conflict between parties
The ruling party have to score more than 170 seats in the parliament to able to make a government. but no party get the majority in the last elections. However Trudeau’s party get 153 seats and make the Government with the support of 25 members of new democratic party. However the NDP withdrew their support soon liberal party make the government with Canadian conservative party. Justin Trudeau was facing challenges and internal conflicts on his decisions and was forcing by many of the members in the parliament to resign from the PM post. Now he finally take decision, but will further be on the post until the new PM is elected by the liberal and conservative party.
